There is a Murugar temple in this village.

History:

There is a mythological story about this temple. Once upon a time there lived three Asuras named Thaarakan, Kamalaakshan and Vidhvanmaali who created flyng forts made of gold, silver and iron respectively. They gave a lot of trouble to the Devas. So they approached Lord Shiva to rescue them. Shiva converted the earth into chariot, seven worlds into the upper portion of the chariot, surya and chandra into wheels, four vedas into horses, Brahma as the chariot rider and maeru as bow and vishnu as arrow and started to destroy the Asuras.  But without the help of anyone he wanted to kill the Asuras with his smile. He smiled and the arose a jwala of Agni which killed the three Asuras. When Thirugnasammandhar sang hymns at Thiruvirkolam he has sung about this incident.
