History:

A Shiva devotee who resided in this place used to visit Chidambaram Big temple for every Pradhosa. He became old. Due to his illness he could not visit there. He Prayed to Lord Shiva and Shiva appeared in front of him in the form of a Linga here. Therefore this place is known as Thiruchitrambalam meaning Chidambaram. The Devotee named Shiva as Aadhipureeswarar. Later the Pandyas contributed a Lot to the temple. They renovated the temple and named Shiva as Kailasanadhar. The Pandyas used this village for storing goods. This temple got dilapidated and now the temple has been built newly and manintained well
